  Taking Control

  to recap: pimo/fading, continually in the process of dis-engaging.. as part of an ever-blossoming departure from the ways in which i grew up and spent a lot of my adult life, i had a moment recently where i took some of my own control back..... let me explain.. one defining moment i had about 8 years ago was when i shredded my "blood card", or dpa.

  i had decided that those beliefs were not the ones i supported.

  it was a little scary, taking that little step, that really only i knew about.. fast forward: recently, as i grow older and need the standard tests that come with age, i had the opportunity to reclaim even more of my independence from previously-held doctrine and beliefs.

  My wife and I haven’t been to a meeting since June. I’m going to run for city council (small town), so I expect a phone call and will decide either let them df me or should I just da myself.

  Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not

  hello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.

  a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.

  so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

  Why Does So Much Intellectual Innovation in the US Tend to Come from the East or West Coasts ???

  there are many good universities in the central part of the us but why do so many innovative things, i.e.

  silicon valley, seem to happen on one side of the country or the other (california, new york, massachusetts to name a few)?

  even what is considered the most high tech area in the center of the country, austin texas, is a huge liberal bastion.

  The Witnesses

  As a former Elder, I had to stop the program(DVR), to explain in detail to my wife the mindset of an Elder and that this stuff happens. You have a group of men with just high school diplomas and not trained to deal with this. They go into default mode, "protect the Congregation, keep Jehovah's name safe, trust the Faithful Slave class". Thus the continuation of a problem they can't solve on their own. If a protestor shows up, "call the Police". A Publisher molests a child, "lets handle this internally".

  Clergy Penitent Privilege

  this privilege is not biblical.. neither is it supported is any jw teaching or publication.. the catholic church invented it, and its primary use is.... drum roll please.... to grant absolution.. do jehovah’s witness elders, who seek the same invented privilege, also grant absolution?.

  if a jw elder hears “a sacred confession” then he must also grant absolution, absolving the sinner of his crimes.... er... sin..

  The problem is, they are to take care of Spiritual Things or Activities and report Criminal Activities! They have a mistaken view and can't separate the two. Lack of education, of an Organization, run by a bunch of High School graduates!

  my wife asked me after the year 2000 came and went without fanfare(because the wt organization said all the “new world” would be here within this 20th century would end), “ what would it take for you to leave the truth?”.

  my reply was “ if i turn 60 in this “system of things”.

  Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words! I’m addicted to this site and is probably the best therapy for me. I just need to come to grips that I am mortal and this will all end for me one day and that is what sucks!
